NOT SO SILENT NIGHT Ugly Sweater Contest | Ross Thorn + Pine and Fire

$10.00-$80.00 | 7:30 Doors | 8:00 PM Show | Cedar Lounge
Wear your ugliest sweater and win beer! Pine & Fire is a working class folk duo from the north woods of Minnesota, formed by longtime best friends, Jobi Adams and Brandi Foster. They blend traditional roots music influences with a modern punk sentiment, creating a unique and driving sound. Together they sing original songs woven with themes of love, escapism, home, and growth. ROSS THORN || With a pastoral upbringing in northern Wisconsin, Ross Thorn’s music emanates as a warm and soulful hymn, waking up optimistically beside a snow covered window. His sharply crafted lyrics – distinctly reminiscent to the likes of Jason Isbell – reveal internal struggles of empathy, questions of human character and virtue, and a search for hope – often finding solace in some unanticipated truth.

Charlie Parr

$15.00-$150.00 | 6:30 PM Doors | 7 PM Show | Cedar Lounge

The Minnesota-born guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music has released 19 albums over two decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained.

Erik Berry (Trampled by Turtles) partnering with Duluth-based singer-songwriter Marc Gartman (Two Many Banjos, Glitteratti), and local folk hero Teague Alexy. Rather than simply performing their favorite Dead tunes, the trio are performing entire Grateful Dead concerts, drawing the set list from the records kept at Archive.org. While LazyLightning420 is essentially a mandolin-guitar duo, both players utilize an array of sound effect devices to present an electric concert. "I use an envelope filter on 'Shakedown Street,' says Berry. "I have some distortion pedals. It's a rock band at heart."
