Erik Koskinen is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose music is not categorized by sub-genres. Stylistically he is on his own. Influenced by roots music of the Americas and the world, the rhythmic integrity and musical tone are as important as the lyrical content and the artistic intent. || Erik Koskinen’s Burning the Deal (released June 28, 2019 on Real Phonic Records/Tone Tree Music) is steeped in American roots traditions. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, raised in Northern Michigan and upper New York state, then living in urban Minneapolis and now, rural Minnesota, Koskinen grew up with the rhythms of weather, factory towns, and farmlands. Koskinen worked in construction for years as he developed his music career, and he now resides on a farm near where he owns a recording studio in Cleveland, Minnesota, population 717.

Musical missionary, tireless troubadour, and producer Jack Klatt isn’t one to be easily categorized or relegated to a narrow niche. He comes across as a young man with a wizened and worldly perspective, an artist who possesses a timeless sensibility of both place and purpose. Yet, his artistic integrity extends to more than simply his songs. It embodies both execution and intent... the way he’s mastered his deft finger-picking technique and used that sturdy approach to bring his material an authenticity reminiscent of the most revered musicians and storytellers.. Sonja Rebecca Martin is a singer/songwriter from Duluth, MN. She and her husband Lee Martin co-founded the folk group Feeding Leroy and have been writing and singing with the band since 2013. Sonja’s love of folk music has been influenced by, of course, Gillian Welch, as well as Kate Wolf, Sandy Denny, and Linda Ronstadt, among others. She loves to harmonize with other voices and find those close weavings of harmonies that you can feel in your bones.

Wood Blind features the combo of Duluth mainstay and guitarist Jason Wussow and Los Angeles studio/touring bass player Veikko Lepisto. Wussow’s credits include the bands Flux Skapacitor, No Room to Pogo, Yeltzi, Fuzzy Ellis and ownership of all-ages music venue Beaner’s Central Coffeehouse in Duluth, MN. Lepisto has worked with Mike Ness of Social Distortion, Royal Crown Revue and Bette Midler while on the West Coast. Teamed together they make acoustic ska à la 1960s’ Jamaica and 70s’ England. Their sets include traditional reggae, ska versions of classic rock and R&B hits, and original rocksteady numbers.

Mahtowa-based singer/guitarist Colleen Myhre put out a note to the world in 2019 with the release of the album Boss Mama. In the lower right corner of the album cover are the words “just getting started.” Though she’d been performing for more than 20 years, she was indeed just getting started. Collaborations with a slew of the region’s musicians led to the gradual and seemingly ongoing formation of Boss Mama and the Jebberhooch, a band that pushes Myhre’s country soul to new levels with deep grooves and a visible sense of joy.

Rock-and-roll vagabond Ian Alexy moved to Duluth 20 years ago and launched a music career performing in a variety of Americana and folk bands — including Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank with his brother Teague. The group recorded five albums, toured the nation and scored a hit in Green Bay Packerland with the song “Old Number Four.” A 2008 move to the Twin Cities saw the formation of Ian Alexy and the Deserters where his songwriting expanded into funk, rock and world music. Now back in Duluth, Alexy is a member of the group Babie Eyes.

Dave Simonett and Dave Carroll, of Trampled by Turtles, are playing a rare duo show. Simonett is TBT’s lead vocalist/guitarist, while Dave Carroll accompanies him on banjo and harmony vocals. The duo plays an assortment of songs spanning Trampled By Turtles, Dave Simonett’s solo work, some choice cover songs and more. || RICH MATTSON || Rich Mattson has been a musician and songwriter for more than 40 years, performing in Minnesota bands such as the Glenrustles, Ol' Yeller and the Tisdales. In the past decade, he's been collaborating with his partner Germaine Gemberling, who shares center stage and vocal work with him in the Northstars.

Local Twin Ports indie-grunge-pop artist Sophie Hiroko and band open the show. || ANCIENT WAVES || In 2019 he formed the band Jarad Miles & the Ancient Waves (formerly Featherbed) with local bassist Andy Nail and drummer Ed Draper, and later joined by guitarist Andrew Berg. They began playing shows in early 2020; sharing bills with local bands Little Fevers, Pleasure Horse, and Battlerat. They had studio dates to begin recording a new full-length record on the weekend of March 14 just as the pandemic hit full force.

Award-winning Duluth musician, author, and storyteller Teague Alexy is probably best known for his Americana songwriting in the national touring brothers duo Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. Teague’s songwriting is clearly influenced by his home in Minnesota as well as his childhood in New Jersey and life as a travelling musical hobo. Teague's storytelling side has deeper roots to his Irish ancestry. The name ‘Teague’ was once used to describe the storytelling poets who travelled ancient Ireland.

Making for an interesting listen in the realm of classic country and folk.. || KELLEY SMITH || Folksinger-songwriter Kelley Smith is a hopeless romantic who fancies old poetry and grandpa sweaters. All at once whimsical and haunting, Smith delivers deeply affecting lyrics with wry charm and a time traveler's voice. Prone to melancholy and daydreaming, Kelley spent her childhood roaming the woods of Minnesota and singing to forest animals. To this day, her longing for that landscape runs deep and seems to find its way into her songs in one way or another.

Henry plays a steel tri-cone resonator guitar, traditional acoustic guitar, harmonica, electric guitar, banjo, foot percussion, and the electric sitar.

Nick Dittmeier & the Sawdusters understand that to stay relevant, country and Americana—like any long-running musical genres—must be unceremoniously leveled from time to time. Blasted by a cold steel wrecking ball, and reassembled into new forms atop the rubble. And what better moment for a scheduled demolition than with all of planet Earth in a holding pattern, straddling the deep chasm between past and future. Into this void arrives Heavy Denim, an album that artfully sidesteps any slavish, formulaic adherence to roots-music traditions.

Sonja Rebecca Martin is a singer/songwriter from Duluth, MN. She and her husband Lee Martin co-founded the folk group Feeding Leroy and have been writing and singing with the band since 2013. Sonja’s love of folk music has been influenced by, of course, Gillian Welch, as well as Kate Wolf, Sandy Denny, and Linda Ronstadt, among others. She loves to harmonize with other voices and find those close weavings of harmonies that you can feel in your bones.

Mahtowa-based singer/guitarist Colleen Myhre put out a note to the world in 2019 with the release of the album Boss Mama. In the lower right corner of the album cover are the words “just getting started.” Though she’d been performing for more than 20 years, she was indeed just getting started. Collaborations with a slew of the region’s musicians led to the gradual and seemingly ongoing formation of Boss Mama and the Jebberhooch, a band that pushes Myhre’s country soul to new levels with deep grooves and a visible sense of joy.

The group recorded five albums, toured the nation and scored a hit in Green Bay Packerland with the song “Old Number Four.” A 2008 move to the Twin Cities saw the formation of Ian Alexy and the Deserters where his songwriting expanded into funk, rock and world music. Now back in Duluth, Alexy is a member of the group Babie Eyes.
